The black and white work depicts the struggle of a single mother and her 10 year old son as he battles cancer. The images are as beautiful as they are horrific. That a child would have to endure such pain and deterioration is terrifying and I can't even imagine what his mother went through as is still going through. I look at my two babies and it breaks my heart to even think of the possibilities. This work represents an unbelievable strength and emotion within every single still image. If you haven't yet seen these images I urge you to do so right now they'll remind you that every single moment specially the one with your children is a special and unique moment. As unique photographs these images stand out with their use of high contrast which to me really capture the moods and emotions.

A Story of Hope

Watch this Academy Award winning documentary "A Story of Healing" and head on over to interplast.org to learn more about the cause and maybe help out with a donation.

In 1997, a film crew accompanied an Interplast volunteer surgical team to An Giang province in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. The filmmakers donated their services to document the team's experiences and produce A Story of Healing, which earned the 1997 Academy Award for best documentary short subject. The 28-minute film is followed by a short epilogue after the credits which follows-up on two patients 16 months after their surgeries.

Ten years after its original release, A Story of Healing has been released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives license (by-nc-nd) and is available for free online.

American Idol, Who Cares!

So America Who's Next? " I Don't Care"

Now I know millions of people love American Idol but lets be honest is it the show or the idea that you have some control over the outcome? Now I wont deny that there's some talented people that have gained exposure through the show, such as first season winner Kelly Clarkson and more recently Chris Doughtry who didn't even win.

I personally don't watch the show if I can avoid it but occasionally I'll catch the end of an episode when I sit down to watch House.

Anyway I don't understand the draw, how can this show have been on television for 6 seasons now? Let me not even get started on the tryouts. If you really want me to take this show seriously don't show me the auditions, "I don't care who didn't make it" . The auditions are just filler as far as I'm concerned and while some may think they are funny I think it's utterly depressing to watch. Oh and the judges, please they are the same 3 people every single season so we will get the same style of musicians every single time. I bet you anything you get 3 different individuals with different entertainment backgrounds to judge the contestants and we'll have a very different show.

So season 6 has brought a unique perspective on this type of reality show with Sanjaya Malakar. Now I have no real opinion on his talents since I've only seen him perform a couple of times for a total of a minute. He sounds okay nothing to idolize really. The folks over at votefortheworst.com with the help of Howard Stern seem to be achieving just what they set out to do and that's supposedly beat the system. I think that's a bunch of crap. So they can pick the winner, umm correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that the point. It's not about who does America think is the best it's about who does American want to win. We've already seen that the best usually is the one that sells the most records, that would be the one that ultimately wins and that's when America really chooses.

To AppleTv or Not?

So now that the AppleTV has been out for what a few weeks it's time to ask the question. Should I get an AppleTV or wait for a RevB? I've been interested in this piece hardware since Steve Jobs first introduced it and told us we'd have to wait another 6 months before it's release. I've been reading up on the hacks and updates and so forth for the AppleTV which pretty much people have found some way or another to do anything the AppleTV was not set up to do out of the box.

Here's my predicament, I have a MacMini hooked up to my widescreen television and a little apple remote. This little set up works fine for me. I can download off of iTunes and rip my DVD's with Handbrake for all my hard drive viewing pleasure. I set up wirelessly so I can watch shows or movies from my other mac computer without much problem. Mind you the streaming is a little messy when viewing a movie but otherwise it works fairly well. When it comes to photos is my real problem. I've got all of my photos on my iMac G5 in my bedroom/office and it is a real nightmare to stream those onto the MacMini for viewing through Front Row. It just doesn't work very well at all. So I guess my main use for an AppleTV with its current features is for the photos. Is it really worth it or should I just wait and move my photos over time to my MacMini with its limited hard drive.

Graduate School a bust. . .

Here's a quick update on the goings on these days. I finally got word from the graduate school that I was not accepted into the program for this round but I was invited to try again next year. This was a real bummer for me but I don't plan on letting

that stop me from trying again. This road block however has made me really question my choices and I'm having a hard time deciding what to do next. My current job is doing okay we are having some problems at work where we are loosing staff members I wont get into any details but I'd say the morale is quite low at this point and if we loose any more staff I will not be surprised. I currently have some prospects of my own but I don't know if that's something I want to pursue or stick it out here a while longer. I've gotta think about my career's future and my family, it's never an easy decision. Well other than all that my little one is growing and has some powerful lungs as you can probably decipher from the photo above. Oh I'm going to Puerto Rico in May to see my brother and sisters whom I have not seen in over 5 years. I'm pretty excited about it even though I have to fly and I really, really, really hate flying. Well I leave you now for better days I hope.
